Grant Funds
Unrestricted/McCain Fund
This fund offers support for arts events and projects without restrictions
on the arts discipline presented. Dafmark Dance Theater, Erie Playhouse,
Erie Art Museum, The Roadhouse Theatre, and Inner-City Neighborhood
Art House are some of the organizations that have received funding
in the past.
- Maximum project grant of $3,500.
- Organizations that consistently present 3 or more performances,
exhibits or productions a year may only apply once for their entire
season.
- Maximum season grant of $5,000.
- All season grant requests must be submitted during the August
15 cycle.
- Deadlines for application are February 15 (for projects occurring
between April 1 and October 31) and August 15 (for projects occurring
between October 1 and April 30 of the following year).
Clarence E. Beyers Music Performance Fund
Specific to arts events with a musical performance component, the
Beyers Fund has awarded grants to organizations such as the Erie
Junior Philharmonic, the Mary D'Angelo Performing Arts Center, and
JazzErie. At the request of Clarence Beyers, an annual operating
grant is also given to the Erie Chamber Orchestra.
- Maximum project grant of $3,500
- Projects must involve music performance
- Deadlines for application are February 15 (for projects occurring
between April 1 and October 31) and August 15 (for projects occurring
between October 1 and April 30 of the following year).
Virginia Vieser Arts in Education Fund
The Virginia Vieser Arts in Education Fund supports both established
programs and new initiatives in arts education. The Erie City School
District, Lake Erie Ballet, and Edinboro University’s Community
Music School are several of the organizations that have received
support through this fund in the past.
- Maximum grant of $2,500
- Funds arts in education programs without regard to artistic
discipline
- Arts education projects may be in any setting that exposes students
of all ages to visual or performing arts
- New initiatives are encouraged
- Deadline for application is August 15.
